Premises Liability/Personal Injury
Barenboim
v. Schindler Elevator Corporation (June-July 2000) was a
jury trial in Supreme Court, New York County in which we obtained
a defense verdict for our client, American Elevator and Machine
Company. In this case, the plaintiff claimed to have suffered
severe personal injuries when the elevator lurched upward several
feet as she was exiting it. After a one-month trial, the jury
found that our client, who repaired part of the elevator motor
that was alleged to have malfunctioned, had no responsibility
for the accident. The other two defendants in the case were
found liable to the plaintiff.
